It can be 90 degrees in the shade, or 10 degrees with a stiff north wind. Put out the call for help building ATV trails in Minnesota, and you will get help.

Over a period of three weekends in November and December, the Over The Hills Gang ATV Club (OTHG) built and placed a 300 ft. puncheon bridge, and one of five needed to complete the new Emily/Blind Lake Connector Trail. Members of four other ATV clubs pitched in: Blind Lake ATV Club, Carlton County Riders, Cuyuna iron Range Riders, and Woodtick Wheelers. All they had to do was show up. OTHG members supplied the timbers, lumber, tools, hardware, skid steer, excavator, and steaming hot brats for lunch. A jig built on top of a trailer made it easy for volunteers to frame up each section and screw down the deck boards. See the article on page 18 in this issue for details about mitigating wetlands and building puncheons for ATV trails that provide a unique riding experience while protecting natural resources.
