New Features and Ongoing Improvements
The Appleton Area Recreational OHV Park, which opened in 2003, is one of only two designated, signed off-road riding areas in southwest Minnesota. That, and the fact that it’s open year-round and to all types of off-highway vehicles, helps it draw families from hundreds of miles. It also brings the small town of Appleton, Minnesota, much welcomed tourism activity.

The weather outside is frightful and it has more than likely been snowing on and off for weeks. At this point, you may miss the fun times of summer and want to get outside in your off-road rig. Good news, winter wheeling can be a fun “cabin fever” breaker for some and, for others, a first and last time experience.

Like miners of the 1800s, the Prospector Alliance hit gold…twice.
After scaling back the 2020 Ride & Rally due to COVID, the Prospector Alliance, undaunted, kept digging, offering to hold it again in 2021. This year, five weeks before the event, lightning struck, sparking the Greenwood fire in the heart of the Superior National Forest.
It may be winter, but it is never too early to start prepping for a safe riding season.
If you live near the veiny network of ATV/OHM trails around the state - you can jump on your machine at home, flick the throttle, and you’re sending rooster tails down the path. Maybe you drive to the OHV trails in your lightly built jeep. There’s something to be said about good ol’ fashioned 4WD, without spending a ton of money on lockers, tires, and axles.
